Efter den här resan är jag säker – jag SKA flytta till New York och jobba/bo/leva i framtiden. Den staden har tagit en del av min själ, och jag kommer inte bli hel igen om jag inte får vara där.

Fina minnen från förra sommaren i Nyc

I’m back in good ol’ Sweden again. The plane-ride home was absolutely awful. Every inch of me wanted to stay in New York. Since it was a red-eye flight (i.e. a night-flight) it felt like the longest 8 hours of my life. Luckily I had loads of films and series to watch (thank GOD for the office!). Next to me on the plane sat a huge guy.. I mean he was enormous. He had to have two seats to fit. “This is gonna be a problem” I thought, as I was unable to get up and go to the bathroom or stretch my legs. But he turned out to be a really cool guy, and there was no problem at all. :) Ha, I found it funny that the cabin crew referred to him as “The Boss”. “Black coffee for The Boss, coming up.” Oh, anyway.. mm, coffee. That’d be nice right now.

The last couple of days in NYC were amazing. Apart from top of the rock, me and Will went to see The Black Keys at Terminal 5. What a show!! Holy shit. We arrived a little late, so unfortunately we missed the first opening act, but we saw the second one – the Whigs. They were amazing too! Will kept going on about how he usually didn’t like the venue :P but I thought it was really cool. It was a three-story building, with a rooftop where you could get food and drinks and hang out. The only bad thing about the place, as far as I’m concerned, was the security-guards. They were assholes. So anyway. We hung out on the rooftop for a while, and then headed back down to catch The Black Keys. Oh, guess who we stumbled upon in the audience? We’re pretty sure it was Nikolai Fraiture, the base-player of THE STROKES. He touched my arm. I was freaking out.

The Black Keys started to play around 12 am. They pretty much kicked major ass (of course, what did you expect from one of the greatest bands ever?!). We noticed that there were video cameras all over the place, and when we left they were filming us as we went out (haha Will made a memorable appearance :D). Yes they were filming the whole concert for a session in Spin Magazine, I believe.

We had nowhere to go after the show, so we decided to hang around for a while, in the hopes of running into the band. And oh yes… we did run in to them. We met both Patrick and Dan. They were exhausted though. No wonder, since they played a show earlier that day too in Central Park.

The set-list

My last day of work was this Monday, and I’m so sad. I can’t believe two months have already gone by. How the fuck did that happen?! I just arrived! Right now I would do ANYTHING to stay in the city. Anything…

Seriously.. I’m so depressed. It sounds horrible, but I really don’t wanna go back home. God dammit New York! Why must you be so awesome?!

So anyway.. my last day of work was great! I’m actually gonna miss everyone :( they gave me cupcakes :) and I got an amazing letter of recommendation (words can’t describe how happy I am about it!). My boss gave me a big hug and told me to keep in touch, and that if I ever went to Paris or London I should let them know ‘cause they have a lot of contacts there ! So.. Paris or London next? Haha :) just kidding. I’ll be moving to New York. Paris/London got nothing on New York.

Today we went to top of the rock (rockafeller). It was stunning! It was such a perfect night to go there too. We arrived just in time to see the sunset. You could see all of central park, and the empire state building.

Tomorrow me and Charlie will probably go the Brooklyn Museum and see the Andy Warhol exhibition. Oh, and after that.. THE BLACK KEYS AT TERMINAL 5! Ha :D I just received the tickets today. Me and Will are going to Brooklyn to see Dan and Patrick, a.k.a. the black keys. Excited? YES.

I have to tell you about this weekend! It was soooo much fun! If I move here, Williamsburg is the place where I’ll live. I LOVE Brooklyn! And it doesn’t get more hipster-ish than Williamsburg. The night started at our apartment in Manhattan. Me, Lauryn, Erin and Charlie played some beer pong - the foreigners (Sweden+England)  against the US team. I don’t mean to brag but the foreigners kicked some major ass, and we’re not talking about beginners luck here.

After a good game we tried out my new I<3NY shot-glass, and then headed out get a cab to Brooklyn (or "flag a tag", as Laurie would say haha).  Lauryn didn’t feel that well, so unfortunately she had to leave us :( we missed you the whole night!

So we arrived in Brooklyn after a while and went to a really nice club (the played the Cure, Joy Division, New Order and so on! Haha, yes I was singing.. don’t know how loud). The crowd was amazing! So many cool people. I met one guy that was going to see both Cold War Kids and The Black keys this month! In Brooklyn of course. Where it all happens.  After some drinks we decided to try another bar, and so we did. We walked for a bit, and found a really nice one (we didn’t have to walk far). I think it was on Bedford ave, or at least somewhere close. They had a really cool backyard where you could stand and look at the stars, if you wanted to. If you didn’t, then you could just stand there and talk too. No one would judge you.  Ha! No but seriously. It was amazing.

Did you think it ended here? Then you’re wrong, my friend. After that we went to another bar called Woods, where they had some kind of anniversary so it was all pimped out. We were offered some drinks and it was all really nice.

Okay, lets just say that the night ended up on a rooftop in Williamsburg. We got home around 6 am. It was one of my favorite nights here in NYC for sure! :)

I think I’ll make one long blog entry when I get back home (which is in two weeks :(). Don’t get me wrong, I cant wait to leave my work and im counting the days I have left there, but I’m in love with New York. This city has taken me by storm. I never knew I could feel so free and dare I say.. happy. Oh god, that sounds so lame. But it’s true! There’s something about New York that brings out the best of me. I’ve met some amazing people here from all over the world. People that I never would have met if I’d stayed in my little town in Sweden. It just goes to show : if you want something – MAKE IT HAPPEN. Life is too short! Yes, I said it. Another cheesy cliché that’s actually true.



I can guarantee you that I’ll play this song over and over on the plane back home.

Hi Sweden! And everyone else. I don’t know if I should write in English or Swedish.. im so confused! Okay, I’ll do this one in English since I’ve already started. I know I haven’t been as frequent as I want to with the blog, but I’m just working aall the time.. and when I’m not working I’m out living the dream in manhattan. I can’t believe it’s already been a month! Time just flies here. I’m dreading the day I have to leave. I don’t know what I’ll do when I get back to Sweden.. probably get my master’s degree or something. But I just wanna stay here forever instead. I wish I had an unlimited amount of money, so that I could buy a nice penthouse, with a view overlooking central park, and just stroll around here. With my dog.. yeah, I’m gonna buy a pug. It’s my and Laurie’s plan. We’ll live here with our dogs, and we’ll take them for a walk in central park everyday and look for cute guys at the same time.

So anyway. Work is a lot better now! Even though there’s a lot to do, and I’m sooo tired all the time, it feel like im getting used to the fast pace here in New York. And no matter how tired I am when I get back from work, my roomies always makes me feel better! I’m so grateful for that. I don’t know what I’d done if I didn’t like the people I was living with.

Yesterday we went to an outdoor cinema (Grease) by Hudson River. It was beautiful! They had set up a big screen out on the harbor, and people where dancing and singing along to the songs. The best thing was that it was FREE. :) We brought some blankets and sat down. It was such a nice evening..

There are so many things I want to tell you, but there just isn’t enough time. This weekend’s gonna be amazing! On Saturday we’ll go and see a Yankees game, and afterwards I think we’ll head out to Bowery Electric, a really nice club. On Sunday it’s the fourth of July, so there’ll be fireworks and partying. It’s gonna be great, great, great! So excited :)

Hej kära blogg

Jag har varit sjuk denna vecka, och därför inte orkat uppdatera bloggen. Fy fan för att vara sjuk på sommaren. Jag hostar och hostar.. har inte sovit alls i natt. Snyft. Men jag tror det håller på att försvinna nu. Det har varit en fullspäckad vecka på jobbet! Idag hade jag inte ens lunch-rast :( eller snarare, jag tog ingen lunch-rast.. för ingen annan gjorde det! Man vill ju inte verka besvärlig, haha! Igår hade vår chef möte med oss praktikanter, och det känns mycket bättre nu. Vi har fått veta lite mer om eventen som vi ska jobba med de närmaste veckorna, och vi fick berätta vad vi helst vill hjälpa till med. Eventplanering verkar jättekul! Mycket roligare än att göra medialistor hela dagarna.

Igår var jag och Erin och såg Toy Story 3. Mycket rolig! Vet inte när den kommer till Sverige, men den är helt klart värd att se (helst i 3D).

Men gissa om jag blev glad när jag loggade in på facebook under arbetstid idag (när chefen gick på toa haha).  Hade fått ett mail från Laurie som hade varit så snäll och köpt biljetter till Beirut den 15 Juli!! :D Så nu är det totalt 4 konserter so far denna sommar.. The National förra veckan, Cary Brothers+ Greg Laswell den7 juli, BEIRUT den 15 juli och Jens Lekman den 7 augusti! Aah! Det blir säkert några till :)

So we just spent the whole day laying in the grass in central park. It was soo relaxing.. but really, really hot. I mean ridiculously hot. I think I’m a little bit more tanned now however… and that’s good. We also wnt to the apple store on fifth avenue, ‘cause my phone has been acting really weird (I cant call anyone, and no one can reach me, so I’m going out of my mind.. I hate at&t!!!) The apple store was enormous! And it had a really cool glass entrance.

I’m falling in love with New York more and more every day.. I don’t wanna leave!! Ever! <3







  

I’ve been so busy and I haven’t had time to update my blog (sorry to all my faithful blog-readers! Ha) So anyway.. I’ve had a great week (apart from work…) On Wednesday me and Laurie went to see The National, as you might already know. They were AMAZING. I’m so glad I got to experience them live! And guess what! St. Vincent and Sufjan Stevens showed up too :) it was a great night. After the show we wanted to meet the band, so we hung around outside for like two hours. We met the drummer, but Matt never showed!! Until we left.. of course. But we met Will – a cool guy with a music blog! Check it out: http://www.weallwantsomeone.org/

On Thursday we went to see a Broadway show. It was really good! We saw Billy Elliott.. I love that movie. Friday was great too. We pre-partied in our apartment and then we went to 40/40, Jay Z’s club. It was OK.. I wasn’t that impressed to be honest.

Now im gonna eat some breakfast and then we’re off to central park! It’s such nice weather today!! Love it.

Idag är jag ledig. Det  är tråkigt, men samtidigt ganska skönt.. ska jag vara helt ärlig så gillar jag inte mitt jobb speciellt mycket. Det är inte vad jag trodde det skulle vara.. det är för mycket fashion. Jag gillar mode, men jag vill INTE jobba med det. Jag trodde den här firman var mer inriktad i nöjesbranschen, men men. Jag får stå ut de här veckorna.

Jag och mina rumskompisar Erin och Charlotte var ute på en lite shopping-tur idag! Vi beslöt oss för att besöka min hemmaplan – chinatown! Det är en väldigt märklig plats. Jag såg ett par mycket fina skor, men det blev inget köp. Jag undrar varför…

Jag: Do you have these shoes in size 37?
Kines: Yes, there’re 1,50..
Jag: Yeah, but do you have them in size 37?.. these are 39.
Kines: Yes! Do you want to buy?
Jag: … well, do you have them in size 37?
Kines: You buy?
Jag: .. I cant buy them until I’ve tried them on!!
Kines: .. then we don’t have.

Hur som helst. Helgen har varit .. jag finner inga ord! Utelivet i New York är helt gaaaaalet..  I fredags kom Erins kompis Jessica hit (hon är från New York). Vi beslutade att vi skulle gå till Greenhouse, så Jessica ringde några samtal och vips hade hon fixat en promoter till oss! För er som inte är insatta i utelivet i New York (haha vilket jag är då..) så är en promoter  vääldigt bra att ha med sej när man ska ut. Man slipper nämligen betala inträde (och man behöver inte vänta i nån kö), man får ett bord inne klubben och man får fria drinkar HELA KVÄLLEN. Ja jävlar i min låda.. just när vi trodde att kvällen inte kunde bli bättre så får vi höra någon säga ”NE-YO just walked in”. Så ja.. där festade vi till fem på morgonen med Ne-Yo. Inget märkvärdigt med det liksom.

Lördagen var seg, men vi lyckades ta oss upp på eftermiddagen. Utsvultna som vi var bar det av till Big Daddy’s, ett typiskt amerikanskt matställe. Efter att ha smällt i oss en stor hamburgare begav vi oss hemåt och sov lite till.. sedan blev det utgång igen. Jessica ringde sin vän Sarah som bjöd med oss på ett privat födelsedagskalas. Vi behövde såklart inte betala inträda eller drinkar denna gng heller.. :) Sarah var en riktigt cool tjej! Hon jobbar bland annat för MTV och något amerikanskt radioprogram.

Hej!

Tänkte slänga in ett snabbt inlägg! Vill bara säga att jag lever och allt är bra:) var ute med tjejerna igår och kom hem fem i morse, så jag är helt slut (ska skriva ett längre inlägg om det sen + BILDER.) Nu ska vi iväg och se fotboll! Yes!! Go USA! Höhö.

Juste, eftersom mamma vill veta hur det ser ut här där jag bor så lägger jag upp lite bilder från lägenheten och så.

Hej allihopa!

Äntligen har jag hittat en adapter till alla mina laddare!! Att vara utan internet är fan tortyr! Tänkte bara meddela att jag har kommit fram till new york och allt gick bra! Sitter i skrivande stund i lägenheten i  Gramercy Green, våning 14, och kollar ut över förbipasserande trafik (som till 90 % består av gula taxibilar). Lägenheten är top noch. Jag har walk-in closet, en mycket fräsch toa och ett förstaklassigt kök (med en microvågsung som går att ställa in till vad som helst, till och med om man vill värma sitt starbucks-kaffe – WOW-faktor.) På tal om starbucks! Idag hade jag min första arbetsdag, och som sig bör började jag på starbucks som en riktig new yorker. Jag kände mej hur cool som helst när jag gick runt med mitt starbucks-kaffe och skulle ta tunnelbanan till jobbet – like a boss! Coolhetsfaktorn minskade kanske något när jag var tvungen att ta fram kartan för att hitta rätt. Men jag kände mej ändå jävligt cool, haha. Kom fram till jobbet (som ligger mitt i chinatown). Jag har två ord: HARD WORK. Detta är ingen lekstuga. Den första dagen  började med att jag fick ringa en massa samtal och fixa ditt och datt. Det är svåårt.. kanske lite för svårt :S we’ll see how it goes.

Mina roomies, Erin och Charlotte är underbara! Jag har verkligen haft tur :) igår var vi på en jättefin restaurang i Soho och åt middag med Erins pappa – mitt under en bar Manhattan-himmel.  Så mysigt! Jag älskar verkligen den här staden! Och jag har bara vart här i några få dagar.  Vädret är underbart, varmt och skönt <3 människorna är så trevliga! Så fort man går in i en restaurang eller bar så får man höra ”How are you sweetie?”,  ”Have a nice day darling” osv.

Jaja, lite bilder här då! Har inte tagit så många än, det kommer i helgen :) nu ska jag soova.. i’m so exhausted…. zzzzZzzzz.. tomorrow is a new day with new adventures. Snart övergår jag nog till enbart engelska, de är bra träning.
